blood pressure

For many people struggling to control their high blood pressure, finding ways to lower it naturally is a priority. While blood pressure medication does help to lower it, many people find that the medication is not enough, Furthermore, the prospect of having to depend on blood pressure drugs for the rest of their lives is not very appealing, especially when considering that they all come with mild to severe side effects.

Certainly, for anyone with high blood pressure the chances of having a stroke, or a heart attack are greatly increased. But just what can a person do to lower blood his/her pressure naturally?

Well, we know that exercise is one key factor in lowering blood pressure naturally; however, in today's hectic world, lots of people refrain from engaging in an exercise program because of lack of time.

So, the results of a recent study published in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health is very encouraging since it shows that even moderate exercise done less than 5 days a week can yield great improvement in lowering blood pressure measurements.

In the study, a small group of sedentary individuals between the ages of 40 and 60 took part in an exercise program for 12 weeks.

The group was randomly divided in three where one group was assigned 30 minutes of brisk walking 5 days a week. The second group was assigned the same program, but for only 3 days a week, and the third group did nothing; that is, they were not asked to make any changes to their current lifestyle habits.

At the end of the 12 weeks study, the non-walkers did not show any changes in their measurements. However, both walking groups showed significant drop in blood pressure, as well as in their weight.

Exercise is one of the most effective, and natural ways to lower blood pressure, and it's encouraging to know that even moderate amounts of exercise can substantially reduce blood pressure.

If you suffer from high blood pressure, the medication your doctor prescribes for you may not be enough to bring your numbers to a healthy 120/80 or lower so, it's important that you incorporate other ways to lower blood pressure in your lifestyle. Exercise, and a healthy diet are key components to lowering your blood pressure, but if this combination still does not bring your blood pressure down to healthy levels, there are other blood pressure lowering things you can add to your daily lifestyle routine.

It is important that people with high blood pressure educate themselves so that they can learn about all the natural, and easy ways that can lower their blood pressure, and decrease the amount of drugs they are taking. With a disease as serious, and high risk as high blood pressure, every bit done to lower the numbers decreases the risk for serious complications.
